About SpendOffer

One question per kitchen tool: is the step up worth it?

What this site is

Most buying guides rank products from best to worst. SpendOffer asks something narrower and more useful at the moment you are about to pay: for this tool, what does the extra money buy, and is that something you will actually use?

Each Step-Up guide puts a base pick beside a step-up pick for the same job, lists what changes between them, and says who should spend and who should save. The answer is often save.

How we work

Our advice comes from research, not hands-on use. We read spec sheets, materials and care instructions, warranty terms and manuals, and we compare what makers state against how each type of tool is known to wear. We don't run a test kitchen and we don't claim results we haven't seen.

Facts on our pages, such as dimensions, capacities and warranty lengths, are marked with the date we checked them. Listings change, so every guide ends with the lines to confirm on the listing before you buy.

How we choose the pairs

A pair has to do the same job with a clearly different build: stamped against forged, plastic against maple, a tray against a spout. We pick products that are widely available and have been on sale long enough to be well understood, and we check that each product page is live on Amazon before we publish.

What we don't do

We don't accept payment or free products in exchange for coverage. We don't copy manufacturer text or other people's reviews, and we don't show star ratings or customer reviews. We don't invent prices or discounts, and we never call ordinary savings a deal.

How the site makes money

Right now it doesn't. SpendOffer is not yet part of any affiliate program, so links to Amazon are ordinary links and we earn nothing when you click or buy.

If that changes, this page and the notice at the foot of every page will say so before any link earns a commission.

Corrections

If something on a page is wrong or out of date, write to hello@spendoffer.com with the page and, if you can, a link to the listing. Every guide shows the date of its last update and a note on what changed.
