Step-up pick
All-Clad D3 Stainless Nonstick 10-inch Fry Pan
A tri-ply steel body that works on induction. The coating inside wears like any other.
Our take
A bonded three-ply pan, stainless outside with an aluminum core, finished inside with PTFE nonstick. The body is excellent: even heat, a riveted steel handle, oven-safe to 500°F and usable on every cooktop, including induction. But the cooking surface is still a coating, and coatings wear with use whatever body sits underneath. You are paying for a body that will outlast its own surface. The listing says hand wash only, which is also how you keep the coating slick for longest.
Worth knowing
- Induction is the main reason to buy it. Without it, most of the premium goes into the body, not the surface.
- Hand wash only, per the listing.
- Steel handles warm up on long cooks; keep a towel nearby.
Where it fits
This is the step-up pick in Nonstick skillet: why we say save. Our verdict there: Save
Save. Every nonstick coating wears out, so buy the pan you won't mind replacing. Spend only if you cook on induction.
