Base pick
Ninja Professional Blender (BL610)
Big pitcher, stacked blades, crushes ice. A one-year warranty shows what it expects.
Our take
A 1000-watt base with a 72-ounce pitcher (64 ounces of liquid) and a stack of blades running up the middle. It is very good at frozen drinks and smoothies with ice, and the pitcher goes in the dishwasher. Thick, low-liquid blends such as nut butter or hummus circulate poorly around stacked blades, so expect to stop, scrape and add liquid. The blade assembly lifts out and is sharp; hold it by the top when washing. The warranty is one year.
Worth knowing
- Excellent with ice. Weaker with thick blends that need to circulate.
- The blade stack comes out. Handle it by the top shaft.
- Four speed settings on the listing, no variable dial.
Where it fits
This is the base pick in Blender: Ninja or Vitamix?. Our verdict there: It depends
Save if you blend smoothies and frozen drinks a few times a week. Spend if you blend daily or make nut butters, soups and thick dips.
The other pick: Vitamix 5200 Blender.
